HOSPITALITY

Hospitality design was studied during third year of the Bachelor of Interior Design program at Sheridan College.

Point Zero

This project was a group collaboration between myself and Shavonnie NG. The main idea behind this restaurant was the streets of Paris and Av. des Champs-Elyees. This is the main street in Paris, France; It has a central circulation with many paths branching off of it. This is what we wanted to display through our circulation in our floor plan. We also kept the colours that of red, white and blue. With connections back to nature and a romantic ambiance for guests.

Lavender House

The Lavender House is a community retreat project that myself and Jessica Dier designed together. The spaces intention was to bring people together and learn how to take care of and tend for vegetation. The idea came from the owners love of plants and the awareness of the negative impact people have on the environment. From simple things in peoples everyday lives, such as; using plastic straws, one use cups, and driving long distances. Everything leaves a mark on the Earth. Therefore, they wanted a place where people can learn how to leave a little, but positive, impact on the Earth and take care of it. By growing plants and learning all of the beneficial aspects they have to offer.

The Lavender House will walk guests through many things such as; identifying vegetation, growing from seeds, how to properly take care of plants, how to harvest, how to graft a tree/ plant, beneficial aspects of plants (medication, food, air quality, etc), how to compost.

Located on site; workable land to grow crops, usable greenhouse, bed and board, community trails, an irrigation pond as well as a grey-water stern, and compost system.

The main concept of the Lavender House is growth. Through the activities provided and the environment surrounding, guests can enjoy a transformative experience that leaves them feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The Lavender House aims to teach guests all about planting as well as keeping them informed on all of the native species, as well as nonnative species, growing in the area. Through these experiences, the Lavender House’s goal is to help guests to grow as individuals through expanding their knowledge, mental awareness, and life experience.
